personaltrainingandyoga@gmail.com
Bio: Juan Anguiano, E-RYT 500, ACE-CPT is dedicated to transmitting the Ashtanga Vinyasa method according to the teachings of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India. Many years of practice and dedication have affirmed his confidence in the wisdom of learning Ashtanga according to abilities and not the demands of the ego. His teaching style illuminates the importance of setting and accepting limits in the practice so that patterns present throughout Ashtanga are understood and connected into an enjoyable harmony of movement and growth. Juan began practicing yoga as a teenager and shortly thereafter discovered Ashtanga Yoga. Juan is a direct student of Sri. K. Pattabhi Jois and has been teaching yoga for 14 years. Juan has established successful Mysore-style programs in Dallas and Austin. He teaches nationally and internationally.
Introduction to Mysore-Style Ashtanga Yoga Practice
This session will explore the method behind the Mysore-Style of yoga practice as taught in the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga tradition. We will discuss and explore the process of meeting and interviewing a prospective student and constructing the beginnings of a yoga practice that is accessible to that individual while still maintaining the integrity of the practice and the tradition. There will be some asana work involving sun salutations. Each participant can expect to practice at least 20 minutes as we will be taking turns practicing and observing one another while Juan highlights points of interest, provides suggestions for improving practice and how to monitor practice.

Co-Dependency and Teaching Yoga
-
constructing clear boundaries without creating apathy
Co-dependency and teaching yoga has been the first topic addressed at each of his six yoga teacher trainings since 2002. Gudjon Bergmann will guide the group through ideas linked to co-dependency and explain the topic in relatable terms, looking to the concepts of Ha (sun) and Tha (moon) as the primary balancing principles that should guide the yoga teacher while creating and maintaining clear boundaries.

explaining the Gunas and Chakras to the average yoga student
Gudjon Bergmann has written extensively about the Gunas (Tamas, Rajas and Sattva) and the Chakras in his books The Seven Human Needs (2006), Living in the Spirit of Yoga (2010) and Balance: The Seven Human Needs Simplified (2011). In order for the yoga student to relate to the concept of Prana, it must be made accessible through every day stories and practical terms. Gudjon will give various examples and make the concepts of Prana, the Gunas and the Chakras come to life in his lecture.

Through the practice of yoga, awareness of diet, and a generous sense of humor, she believes it is possible to integrate body, mind, and spirit.
The Yoga of Nutrition
This will be a power point lecture. I will give a brief history of the place of nutrition historically as it relates to yoga. As a holistic practice and approach, it would be contradictory to think that our food is not the very thing of which we are made. Considering that chanting the yoga sutras has a profound effect on our cellular level, so too, does what we consume. There are many basic principles that yoga practitioners may subscribe to, but this lecture will speak to practical things such as proper food combining, why it is important to eat fresh, whole, organic foods, and the necessity of creating a global, sustainable consciousness outside of our yoga communities.

Tri Yoga: Free the Hips and Free the Spine
This class focuses on greater health and vitality in the pelvic region, hips, legs, feet and toes. Additonal emphasis on wavelike spinal movements will increase strength, flexibility and energy in the spine as well as the chest, abdomen, shoulders, arms and hands. In addition to the spinal wave, the whole body flows. To sustain the flow, one maintains relaxation-in-action and common alignments between the two postures. One connects, flows, and dissolves each posture into the next, moving only what needs to move in order to conserve energy. The body relaxes in the flow, when pr?na increases.

KID YOGA~ The New Frontier
As an all encompassing yoga teacher that serves the community on all levels it is worth considering a KID YOGA CLASS. My inspiration to teach children came from the heart, when I had my own kids. And I just wanted my kids to get ‘this’ information as soon as possible. “Ah, if I had only known this stuff when I was younger!” I’m happy to share what works and what doesn’t so your yoga kids want to come back every week! This is the next generation that will receive the benefits of their forefathers; in addition, they will have to deal with some of the not so nice responsibilities handed down to them. Yoga is a great tool to use in school, career, ecology and community awareness.

Slow Flow
This mindful approach to sequencing moves through fewer postures in a more deliberate way. Moving slowly recruits muscles in both directions—moving in and out of the postures—to build muscle strength. Holding postures longer can either build strength or increase flexibility, depending on the pose that is being held. Participants can choose their exertion level based on how slowly they move and how long they hold the postures.

Meditation Inspired by Thich Nhat Hanh
"People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle. But I think the real miracle is not to walk either on water or in thin air, but to walk on earth. Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don't even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child -- our own two eyes. All is a miracle," writes Vietnamese Buddhist Monk Thich Nhat Hanh. Opening the Shoulders and Chest
Tightness in the chest and shoulders limits our mobility in yoga class and the energetic opening in the upper body. Through a carefully sequenced series of poses you will find yourself opening and releasing in new and rewarding ways. The class will finish with shoulder-stand, for those who can practice that asana. Others will receive an alternate posture that will utilize the newfound openness in the shoulders and chest. You will leave feeling energized and refreshed!
